about

A blipvert is a very brief television advertisement, lasting one second. The word is a portmanteau of blip, a brief sound, and advertisement.
The term and concept were used in the 1985 film Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future and in Blipverts, the first episode of the 1987 science fiction television show Max Headroom. In the film and TV show, "blipverts" were new high-speed, concentrated, high-intensity television commercials lasting about three seconds. Their purpose was to prevent the channel-switching that may occur during standard-length commercials.

The soundscape of the album ranges from references to the more classic "Berlin School", to echoes of electronic "Downtempo" typical of the soundtracks of 70s cinema and composers such as Peter Thomas and Piero Umiliani, without ever forgetting the compositional "Oblique Strategies" of Brian Eno developed in those years.
Other sound references are Boards of Canada (to whom D.U.O. dedicates the track A Beautiful Place), Aphex Twin, Autechre, the classic and timeless Kraftwerk (of which Florian is the other tribute track) and the current and very lively Synth scene on YouTube.
